    Linden Kathleen Christ made her international debut as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel with the Rome Opera Festival in 2005. She made her professional American debut in 2008 as First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre. She performed the role of Ellen in Lakme with Union Avenue Opera in St. Louis August, 2009. She sang the role of Sandman and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel in Wisconsin in June 2010. Christ is directing Amahl and the Night Visitors and will sing the role of the Mother at North Park Covenant Church in February 2012. She played the role of Jane in Brigadoon at Music By the Lake, WI in July 2011. She made her premiere with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Civic Center in “A Walk Down Broadway”. Christ was asked to return to the Civic Center on Valentine’s Day to sing with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra’s Romantic Gershwin Concert.

    Christ completed her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Musicology from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where she is now an Adjunct Faculty, and conducts the University Singers. Christ graduated magna cum laude from Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. Some of her favorite roles include: Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw, Euridice in Orpheus in the Underworld, and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel.

    Christ is the artistic director of the opera outreach company, Chicago Opera Playhouse. In 2009, the company performed a new opera, Three Little Pigs by Leo Van Asten as well as Hansel and Gretel for schools, churches, and other venues. In 2010-2011 , Opera Play House presented Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Jonathan Stinson throughout Chicago. The 2011-2012 season will present the mixed up musical Cinderhood, by Adam Busch.

    Christ is the Manager of Education and Outreach for Chicago Opera Theater, working with the After School Matter’s Chicago Opera Theater For Teens, and the middle school program, Opera for All. Christ resides in Chicago, where she studies with Judith Haddon and is a native of Metamora, Illinois.
